Forecast Reporting brings Forecast Submission and inline reporting together in a single click, and it doesn't stop there! The default forecast columns that become visible in a report can be filtered individually, continuing the Platform's interactive reporting capabilities that give you the power to slice and dice your data to best suit your needs.
Imagine looking at your pipeline opportunities and being able to narrow them down to only new business opportunities forecasted this month, and still see all of the data that was already available to you in the pipeline report...without leaving the report or navigating between the two and trying to make comparisons and keep all the data straight. Forecast Reporting literally keeps your data straight...in a straight line.
To open the Forecast Report default columns, simply click on the Forecast button above an open report. Watch below to see the Forecast button turned on, the default columns appear, unforecasted opportunities being added...and all that before we even start filtering!
Filter Report Columns
-
Forecast Type: shows which of your forecast types the inline data is (eg., Best Judgement, Commit, Upside, etc.)
-
Forecast Period: the forecast period the inline forecast data falls into
-
Forecast Segment: shows which of your forecast segments the inline data is from (eg. New Business, Renewal, Total, etc)
-
Adjusted Forecast Amount: the forecasted value of an opportunity that is shown in the forecast report is based on the following criteria:
-
the most recent forecasted amount by a rep that has received no adjustments from a manager or someone higher up in the hierarchy OR
-
the most recent adjustment by a manager (or anyone further up the hierarchy), the adjusted amount will always reflect the value most recently adjusted by the highest person in the hierarchy to have made an adjustment
-
if a rep makes an adjustment after a manager's adjustment, it will not be reflected until the manager (or someone higher in the hierarchy) resubmits the forecast with that adjustment included
-
-
Forecast In/Out: whether a forecast is shown as in or out is also based on the above prioritization to show which opportunities are:
-
in - remain in the forecast OR
-
out - were in the forecast but have been removed
-
-
Forecast Date: date the opportunity was forecasted in/out
-
Forecast Submitted by: the person responsible for visible changes (in accordance with the prioritization described above, this column shows the most recent adjustment made by the highest person in the hierarchy to make an adjustment)
-
View Submissions: if an object has multiple forecasts (eg., forecasted in different types, segments or periods) there will be a dropdown option in the View Submissions columns that will expand to show the multiple forecasts. The top listed forecast is the one that best matches the filters and will change depending on adjustments made to the filters. Each type/segment/period will show in the list once, showing the highest level of the hierarchy's forecast status (see above).
Filter Behavior
While opening the Forecast Report opens a pre-determined set of filters (or columns), you can still adjust each individual filter to suit your needs!
As mentioned above, there is a prioritization applied to the order in which an object with multiple submissions is shown and it is based on filter behavior. An object with multiple submissions will list the best-matched submission first. While you have Forecast Reporting turned on, you will still have access to the other columns of the report and can continue to filter each of them as well.
Include Unforecasted Opportunities
You can still view all of the opportunities included in a report, even those that are unforecasted, while inspecting the forecast report. Next to the forecast button, you will see a button to Include Unforecasted Opportunities that will ensure the open report lists not only objects that are forecasted but also those that are not. Notice in the gif above that after Include Unforecasted Opportunities is selected, the number of total opportunities goes from 72 with just Forecast selected to 258!
Unforecasted Opportunities will appear on the report with a "no forecast", but their data will be present in the other applicable columns.
