Support Additional Files (Variants) on an Item

In some cases, customers need to create or upload variants of an item of many kind. Mediafly allows users to upload different variants of the same item. This allows end users to easily search for the item and have the option to download the item on all available variants. 

For example, a content manager uploads an image item, Pricing Sheet. Once uploaded, the content manager can then choose to upload several variants of the image. Variants of the image with a larger resolution or quality may be uploaded as additional files to the item.

Uploading Variants of an Item

1. Log in to Airship and access the item you want to add a variant.

2. In the file info tab, navigate to the File management portion of the page and select the Add additional file types or resolutions below the item.

3. A space is provided below the item. Click on the upload button or drag the variant into space provided.

4. Upload as many variants as necessary. In this example, multiple files of different formats and sizes are uploaded.

5. Once the files are uploaded, users that want to download the item are presented with the option to download specific variants of the item.

Notes:

• The “Add additional file types or resolutions” options is not available for URL items, mirrors, or search folders.
• A mirror item will display the same “additional files” as the original item, however you cannot add “additional files” from the mirror, that must be done on the original.
• Copying an item will also copy the “additional files” on the item.
